Yay, profile!
Name: Allyse Nicole Knox
Class: 2010
Nickname(s): For some reason, I'm not very nickname-able. :(
Major/Minor: Theatre Arts and Gender Studies (double major)
Where are you from? : Thompson, CT
Favorite song the Shoes sing: I like World on Fire, Murder of One, Young James Dean and When It Don't Come Easy best--I would say. But I really like all of them in their own way.
One reason why you are a feminist: I am a feminist because I believe every human being should have the opportunity to be truly radically free, regardless of sex, gender, race, class, sexual orientation, etc. (and I mean that in a fully existentialist, dorkily philosophical sense).
One book every feminist should read: "The Woman in the Body" by Emily Martin
If you were an animal, you would be: Probably a cat of some sort. Maybe a lion.
Your #1 source of news: Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, as well as the ladies at AfterEllen.com.
Your favorite ice cream flavor: Coffee!
If you could choose any celebrity to be a Nice Shoe, you would choose: Regina Spektor or Nellie McKay
Your favorite part of the body: The eyes, of course.
If there was a soundtrack of your life, 5 songs that would be on it are:
1) "Lullabye" by Ben Folds Five
2) "The Long Walk" by Nina Nastasia
3) "Something" by the Beatles
4) "On the Radio" by Regina Spektor
5) "Just for Now" by Imogen Heap
Feminists that inspire you the most: Both of my parents, first and foremost. The Nice Shoes :). Judith Butler and Emily Martin.
Your favorite shoe memory: Provincetown Fall '07...one of the best days of my life.
Your favorite pair of shoes: My black ballet flats with polka dots that tie up the ankle.
